Sal's - The happiest place on earth.

So, I FOUND A BUTCHER!!! It was nearly the happiest day of my life (don't worry Darryl, the day we first kissed, brought Rex home, got married and started the adoption, are also all up there) But, this was a BIG moment for me....

Saturday we were having family over for a birthday celebration. Most celebrations in my family are at my home because I LOVE to cook and plus I get to threaten not to feed or give people cake unless their birthday wish is about Amara.

In preparation, Darryl and I went shopping for Ribs (which I have recently perfected and wanted to show off) and were at our local big chain store perusing the meat when a stranger lady approached Darryl and whispered in his ear...

"Don't buy meat here. Go to Sal's. "

For those of you who know me, Darryl and I moved to our home about 3 years ago. We moved to a new city. I still travel back (25 minutes) to Toronto for everything. If we want Chinese food, we go back to Toronto,

Thai food = Toronto,
Family Doctor = Toronto,
Gynae = Toronto,
Work = Toronto,
Movie theatre = Toronto,
Butcher = Toronto

You get the idea. I am a creature of habit. Even though we moved three years ago, our new city doesn't feel like home.

Going to this new Butcher was like going to Disney Land for me - Disney Land in MY OWN CITY. My heart was palpitating, my palms sweating...We filled our freezer with T-bones ($2.00 a steak!!!), New York Striploin ($2.00 a steak), (Boneless, skinless chicken breasts, so big you could stuff them $1.00 a breast). Next, I will try find a Chinese food joint around home.

OK, enough about the butcher. Darryl and I went to the movies and saw The Reader on Friday night. I loved it. Darryl hated it as per usual. We have very different taste as Darryl loves any movie with a good fart joke and was sulking the whole time because I didn't agree to see Mall Cop with him. Anyway, 20 minutes before the movie ended the power went out and we were forced to evacuate.

"Mame, you have to leave, it is not safe in here. The generator is going to die soon"

"I am NOT going anywhere"

"Mame, it isn't safe"

"The power IS coming back on. I can't re watch a movie. I don't have it in me. I have never watched the same movie twice. There is only 20 minutes left and it is a great movie"

"Mame"

"OK, OK, I'm outta here..."

So, I called my sister whom I bought the book for Christmas. Luckily she had read the book and told me the end. But what a disappointment.
